This article features several out-of-the-box portals that can be added to your database with [Suitcase import](/v1/docs/suitcase-import). They can be customized once imported. Portals represent fully-customized software development and require specialized resources. Undertaking any portal project, including the out-of-the-box portals in this article, requires staff resources for configuration and maintenance. ## Applicant status portal The **applicant status portal**replaces the `/apply/status.XSLT` file your institution may have previously used to customize the applicant's experience after submission. The [enrolling student portal](/v1/docs/slate-standard-enrolling-students-portal) is intended only for enrolling students, where they can see enrollment checklist items and find additional information about the institution and enrollment process. Both require a **custom dataset**to store alumni volunteer information. Before you import the portal with Suitcase, follow the steps in [Slate Standard Alumni Interviewing Portal](/v1/docs/slate-standard-alumni-interviewing-portal) to: 1. Create an alumni volunteer dataset 2. Create a related dataset row field to represent the interviewer 3. Create custom forms to capture assignments Portal options include: #### 1) Alumni assign themselves to interview students Alumni volunteers select which applicants to interview and provide feedback through a custom form. > [!NOTE] > 💼 Alumni Interviewing Portal > > Use [Suitcase](/docs/suitcase-import) to import an **alumni interview portal:** > > ```SuitcaseID > dc8ae229-a7ce-439e-85e2-71ea9adf3587:slate-examples > ``` #### 2) Designate alumni captains to assign interviews Similar to the other alumni interviewing portal, but lets you designate certain alumni volunteers are as captains. These captains see the list of applicants and match them with alumni volunteers for interviews. Coaches are added to Slate as administrative users and given a custom role that matches the names of sports. Person records with the corresponding sport on their profiles are then shown to the appropriate coaches. The specific details of the information shown to the coach can be customized and, using a custom form. Use an [embedded form](/v1/docs/using-slate-forms-with-portals) to store portal data instead. Tour guides can sign up to assist with campus tours (or any other type of event) via a portal. These portals are configured to provide varying degrees of functionality for students looking to sign up for events. ### Event portal with Tabs and Space Available Students can sign up for events from this portal.
