# Configuring Slate to Collect Application Fees

> [!NOTE]
> 📚 Part of the series **Application Building Phase I:**[**Core components**](https://knowledge.technolutions.net/docs/application-building-checklist#phase-1-core-components)

You can use **Slate Payments**to collect a variety of payments, including application fees, enrollment deposits, and event related fees.

With Slate Payments, you can also collect payments on a form using a payment widget. The payment widget adds the option of charging payments for a dataset record as well as a person or application record.

You can also use external payment processors to collect payments in Slate.
