Standard user permissions grant access to given functions in Slate, but using Realms enables restricting functional access to only objects contained within the Realm.
Adding a Realm
When adding a new form, event, or scheduler slot, or when editing an existing resource, select the appropriate Realm value.

TipAdd Realms to an event or scheduler template for all events or slots within that template to inherit the Realm.
