Article summary

The Slate WYSIWYG (“what-you-see-is-what-you-get”) editor includes a built-in color palette that appears wherever rich text formatting is available, including forms, Deliver, portals, and dashboard queries. This article describes the standard color palette included with Slate by default, and explains how to replace it with a custom set of colors using a database configuration key.

Standard Color Palette

The default Slate color palette has 24 colors that display when the font color or highlight color setting is clicked in the WYSIWYG editor. If 'More Options' is selected from either of these settings, a total of 162 colors are available, as well as the option of entering a custom color using a hex code.

✨ Tip: Don’t know your hex codes?

If you don't know the hex code(s) you would like to use, you can access the standard color palette by clicking the font or background color icons within the WYSIWYG editor, and then choose 'More Colors'.  When hovering over a color, the hex code will appear.

Configuring a Custom Color Palette

To change the color palette in the WYSIWYG editor across Slate:

  1. Click Database in the top navigation bar.

  2. Click Configuration Keys.

  3. From General Settings select HTML Color Palette Override

    • Within the Value box, enter a comma-separated list of HEX codes for up to 24 colors to appear on the Palette

  4. Click Save.

🤔 Don't see the color palette change immediately?

Remember that changes to configuration keys may take up to 15 minutes to be reflected across all web nodes.
