# Customizing The Record Lookup Page

Data displayed on the Record Lookup page can be customized, using Configurable Joins Record Lookup. Default, personal and shared views can all be created using this tool. You can modify Record Lookup views to show custom exports and use default filters and sorts. Shared Lookup views are managed and created on the Record Lookup page of your database.

This functionality enables access to data using Configurable Joins and eliminates the need for custom local Lookup exports.

## Enabling Configurable Joins Record Lookup in the Database

If you don’t already have it enabled, you can preview this feature before activating it in your database. On the Records page, click **Preview CJ Lookup** to give it a try: [![ select Preview CJ Lookup](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/51vn364cskephxz3tmcyngmceclip1.png)](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/51vn364cskephxz3tmcyngmceclip1.png)

Configurable Joins Record Lookup is available in both **test** and **production environments**as an **Early Access feature**. You may already have the feature enabled if you recently provisioned a Slate database.

If not, to enable it:

1. From the main navigation, select **Database**.
2. From the Configurations section, select **Configuration Keys**.
3. From the Database Configuration section, select **Early Access Features.**
4. Select **Configurable Joins Record Lookup,**then click **Save**. > [!WARNING]
> 📝 Note
>
> As with all configuration changes, the effect may take **up to 15 minutes** to be reflected across all web nodes.

Configurable Joins Record Lookup is enabled when the Searcher icon appears on the **Search Database page** under Records: [![Customize_View_button.png](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/customize_view_button.png)](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/customize_view_button.png)

## Customizing the Records Page

To create a custom Lookup view:

1. Select the record type****from the main navigation.
2. If no Lookup exports currently exist, select **Edit Shared Views**:

3. If Lookup exports exist, select the **Searcher**icon:

Existing views, including the Default view, will appear and can be modified in the popup. Changing exports, filters, or sorts on a default view and clicking **Update** will only change the view temporarily and for the user who made those changes. See the steps under *Copying and Saving Views*to save the view for future uses.

4. To create a default view accessible to other users, navigate to **Edit Shared Views** and click **Create View**. You can indicate if the view should be the default view for this base for other users. You can also indicate which permissions give users access to this view. [![deafult_view.PNG](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/10034865756571.png)](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/10034865756571.png)
5. Click **Save**.

Shared views will be accessible in Searcher within Record Lookup. Any saved view can be pinned so that they are easily usable from Record Lookup.

> [!WARNING]
> **Note:** Default Lookup views will need to be established for all custom Datasets.

## Permissions

There are dedicated permissions for each Record Lookup base. If your database had existing Lookup permissions, these have been migrated to these new permissions: [![dedicated permissions for each Record Lookup base](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/qrp8gqqw0unj37axnuobgmceclip2.png)](https://cdn.us.document360.io/cd8ea7a6-07f3-4846-a554-627ac016d3e3/Images/Documentation/qrp8gqqw0unj37axnuobgmceclip2.png)
