Some third-party tools, like Facebook Business Manager, ask you to perform some action, like uploading an HTML file to a location in your website domain, to prove you are the owner.

You can do this in Slate by adding the file to Database → Files, adding a meta HTML tag to your branding, or publishing DNS entries.

Uploading a domain verification file to Slate

1. Go to Database → Files.

2. Select Upload File.

3. In the Path field, enter /filename.html to place the file in the root directory. The third party dictates the file name.

4. From Visibility, select Public.

5. Select Upload.

The file is immediately available for access and verification by the third party.

Adding a meta tag

You can also add a meta HTML tag to the branding on your homepage.

Slate does not offer a home page. Instead, any traffic to that homepage location is redirected based on your Homepage Redirect configuration key.

As a result, it is not possible to use the meta tag approach to verify your domain.

DNS records

While Slate requires your IT team to publish a CNAME record for your Slate hostname to route all traffic to Technolutions, they may be able to publish additional DNS entries which will allow verification.

It is important that these records not interfere with the existing CNAME entry. If it does, pursue the HTML file option detailed above.
