Article summary

To allow applicants to add or update their recommenders after submitting an application, turn on the “Allow Edits to Recommenders” setting on a Checklist or Checklist by Section portal widget. When enabled, the portal widget will include a link that returns applicants to the reference page on the Slate-Hosted Application.

From the reference page, they can add new recommenders, exclude recommenders, or send reminders to recommenders who haven’t submitted their recommendations yet.

Here are the step-by-step instructions:

  1. From the header navigation bar, select Database. Then, select Portals.

  2. From the list of portals, select the status page portal you'd like to edit.

  3. Select the view you'd like to edit.

  4. From the portal widgets palette, insert a Checklist or Checklist by Section widget into the view (or edit an existing one).

  5. Select one of the following settings under the Allow Edits to Recommenders select list:

    1. Show when Unreceived Recommendation Exists: The link will display in the portal if an unreceived recommendation exists on the record.

    2. Show Always: The link will display in the portal regardless of the status of the recommendation requests

    3. Hide Always: The link will never display, preventing the applicant from editing their recommenders.

  6. If you’ve chosen to show the edit recommenders link, the Reference Page Form setting will appear.

    1. If you leave the setting blank, the applicant will return to the standard reference page set in the application editor.

    2. If you select a form from the list, the link will direct them to the selected form.

  7. Click Save.
