Migrating to Slate Payments

If you accept payments in Slate through an external provider and want to migrate, either fully or in part, to Slate Payments, you can request a migration.
Each external payment integration setup is different—sometimes they differ within a single payment processor. Deactivating custom payment integrations, either for testing purposes or production cut-over, or isolating an integration’s scope to specific payment accounts may involve renaming files or deleting configuration sections from existing files.

Why migrate to Slate Payments?
With Slate Payments, payment widgets can collect payments directly on Slate forms and events
Cost and transaction fees are highly competitive
The Stripe payment element will automatically display all the acceptable/available/supported payment methods
Refunds, payouts, and built-in reconciliation reporting can be managed in Slate
Testing is self-service
Tap-to-pay can be used for in-person payments
Preparing to migrate
Before you submit your ticket to the Support Desk:
Determine which prompts are associated with the payment provider or providers you’re migrating from.
Not all prompts need to be migrated at once.
Slate Payments will coexist with any existing external payment processor integrations.
Follow the steps in Slate Payments - Setup that describe creating deposit accounts.
In your test environment, follow the steps in Slate Payments - Setup that describe connecting deposit accounts to payment account prompts.
As an alternative to step 4, you can:
Create a separate test payment account prompt value, for example, Test Fee.
Leave the other provider live using the other existing prompt values, and then switch later when you're ready to go live with Slate Payments.
These alternative steps can be more convenient for some users, but may not work in every case.
Submitting a ticket
To submit the ticket:
Go to Database → Discover Slate.
In Level III: Advanced Exploration, select Support Desk.
Select Continue to Support.
Select the Migrating to Slate Payments category.
In the ticket, list the prompts you collected in the previous section.
Submit the ticket. We’ll respond to gather additional context around timing and requirements.
