# Exporting Admin PDF Download Materials

You can manually export PDFs using [Admin Download PDFs](/v1/docs/getting-started-with-document-exports#downloading-pdfs-from-a-record).

## Creating a material export query

1. Go to **Queries / Reports**.
2. Select **New Query.**
3. Configure the following settings:
  - **Name:**Enter a name for the query
  - **Type:**Configurable Joins
  - **Category:**Records
  - **Base:**Select *Application*or *Application by Population*
4. Select **Save**.
5. Select exports that identify the population to export, like **Ref** and **Name**.
6. Add filters to identify the population to be exported. For example, **Program** or **Round**.
7. Select **Run Query**.
8. From **Output**, select **PDF Document Export.**A *Select Parts* popup appears.

## Configuring PDF document export settings

Configure the following settings:

#### Type

Select one of the following:

- **Export as a single PDF:**Generates a new, single PDF containing all documents for *all*applicants in the same file.
- **Export as individual PDFs within a ZIP archive:**Exports a zip archive file containing individual PDF files for each applicant. Each applicant file contains the parts selected.
- **Export as individual PDFs within a ZIP64 archive:**Exports a zip archive file containing individual PDF files for each applicant. Each applicant file contains the parts selected.

#### Format

Select one of the following:

- Include headers and footers
- Include copy banner, headers, and footers
- Omit headers and footers
- Omit document resizing, headers, and footers

#### Insert part

Select the parts or materials to be included in the export.

For example, a part named "Writing" could be set up to include all writing-related materials, such as Personal Essay, Scholarship Essay, and Writing Supplement.

If [Admin PDF Download Tab Groups](/v1/docs/admin-applicant-pdf-download-options) have been created, they will appear in the **Parts** selector. If not, the selector will display a standard list of materials, including all active custom materials created in **Materials**.

> 📝 Note
> 
> The default admin PDF download options are not available if ***at least one*****custom **Reader Tab Group** and **Reader Tab Material** is created. Be sure to create all materials to be downloaded with this method in **Reader Tab Groups** and **Reader Tab Materials** when modifying the default behavior.

## Exporting the documents

Select **Export**. The download takes place in the browser window.
