Gifts in Slate are segmented into three main categories: Gifts, Pledges, and Planned Gifts.
Category | Description |

Gifts | Donations made in this category represent a current transaction (e.g. an institution has received something of value from a donor.) |
Pledges | Donations made in the pledge category represent the intention of a donor to make a gift in the future. The donor can make a gift in fulfillment of a pledge. This fulfillment can be done as a single gift or over a series of installments. |
Planned Gifts | Donations made in the Planned Gift category represent the intention of a donor to make a gift as part of their estate. |
