# Link/Unlink Gifts with Payments

Payments not associated with a gift can be linked manually. Gifts that need to be unlinked from a payment can similarly be unlinked or linked with another payment.

To link a payment to a gift, open the gift record and locate the **Payment** section.

Click **Link to a payment:**

If the gift is already linked to a payment, you’ll have to option to **Change Linked Payment**:

You can then select a payment from the list of transactions recorded for the donor near the gift date (±7 days), or manually enter a Transaction ID.

If the gift is already linked, you will also have the option to **Remove existing link** from the gift to the payment.
