Adding Opportunities and Proposals

Major asks are tracked in Slate as Opportunities. A record can have any number of Opportunities. To create a new Opportunity, navigate to the Giving Tab on the record and select New Opportunity. Add the name, date, status, opportunity type, funding type, fund, campaign, anticipated ask amount, probability, ask date, asked, expected, received, and a description. Opportunity statuses can be customized on an institutional basis by modifying the standard giving prompts. Slate automatically captures expected and received amounts based on gifts and pledges associated with an opportunity.

Associating Materials and Notes

Materials can be associated directly with an opportunity. For example, a completed proposal can be uploaded into Slate in PDF format and associated directly with an opportunity on an individual record. To add a material, navigate to the Materials tab and select New Material. Select the associated opportunity in the Record dropdown and upload your material.

Each opportunity can have multiple notes associated with it. Notes are useful for tracking developments of a major gift opportunity as they include a subject, date, time and can have unique users.

Custom Opportunity and Opportunity Notes fields can be created to track additional detailed information.
