Querying on Event Time Zones

Prev Next

You can query on the time zone in which an event took place by using the Form base’s Timezone export. You might do this for quality assurance purposes in a report or dashboard, or as a one-off query.

Creating the query

  1. Go to Queries / Reports.

  2. Select New Query.

  3. Configure the following settings:

    • Name: Enter a name, like Event time zone validation.

    • Folder: Select the folder where the query should be saved.

    • Type: Configurable Joins

    • Base: Form

  4. Select Save.

Adding a formula subquery filter

  1. Select Subquery Filter.

  2. Configure the following settings:

    • Name: Enter a descriptive name for the subquery filter. For example, if you’re trying to confirm whether the event is not configured in Eastern Time, you could name it Time Zone Not Eastern.

    • Type: Dependent subquery

    • Aggregate: Formula

    • Exports: Before you configure the formula, select Export → Form Timezone → Continue to make this export available to the formula.

    • Formula: Enter a formula that calculates whether the Timezone export is configured the way you expect it to be. Time zone values are determined by Microsoft’s Time Zone Index Values. For example, if you want the formula to return true when the event’s time zone is not in Eastern Time, you could enter:

      @Form-Timezone != 'Eastern Time'
  3. Select Save.

Adding exports

Add exports that help reviewers identify the event and the time zone for which it was configured, like:

  • Form Title

  • Form Start Date/Time

  • Form End Date/Time

  • Form Timezone

  • Form Timezone ID

  • Form Timezone Offset

After adding any required filters and exports, select Preview Results to confirm that each person appears with the expected event details and whether the formula evaluates as expected.
