Article summary

Create reports in Slate to display aggregate data using Queries / Reports.

Adding Ping analytics to your websites

Slate features a native web tracking analytics platform called Ping.

It’s powerful, easy to set up, and you can use it alongside your other analytics tools.

Creating reports and dashboards

Reports in Slate are built on the query tool you’ve no doubt become familiar with. Where queries return a table where each row represents a record from your choice of query base, reports can contain multiple queries and visualize their data.

A sample funnel report can be imported into your database from Showcase and then customized to fit your institutional requirements.

Training your users

With your database ready for prime time, you can start training your end-users and testing the various objects you’ve created. As they explore Slate themselves, their questions may lend perspective that leads you to reevaluate your implementation details.

Many of our institution’s end-users find benefit from getting Slate Certified.

Going live! 🎉

When you have finished building and testing all essential processes in your new Slate database and your staff is trained and ready, then it is time to move all your records and active operations into Slate. You are ready to go live!

Go-live checklist:

  • Migrate all records from your pre-Slate system.

  • Update links on your website and advertisements to point to Slate objects such as forms, applications and portals.

  • Redirect regular incoming feeds to Slate and activate source formats in Production.

  • Make sure your branding is in place.

  • Activate necessary functionality in Slate production.

  • Anything you missed..? Take one last look through the list to make sure!

Once you are live and working in Slate, continue to monitor newly activated processes, continue meeting with your Slate team and steering committee, and begin planning your next project!

Next up: Phase III: Year one and beyond

You’ve done it: you’ve implemented the whole Slate Roadmap! Or, at least, you picked what you needed out of the Roadmap and implemented it. Which is still good!

Your ongoing mission: to practice good Slate stewardship.
