# Showcase Environments

**Showcase environments** are pre-configured with a suite of Slate features, giving you hands-on experience with a fully built-out system.

You can use the Showcase database to:

- **Explore best practices**: Learn first-hand how an optimized Slate database works
- **Train your team**: Give staff working examples to experiment with
- **Test configurations**: Try out new setups before committing changes to your production environment
- **Accelerate implementation**: Quickly deploy functional elements using Suitcase rather than starting from scratch

## A fully-featured Slate database for every lifecycle

When you provision a Showcase database, you can choose from among **Admissions, Student Success,** or **Advancement**, each one tailor-made for its respective lifecycle**.**

The **Admissions Showcase** database includes:

- **Application & review workflows**: A complete application and review setup, demonstrating how admissions processes can be structured in Slate.
- **Forms & events:** Ready-to-use inquiry forms, event registration templates, and automated follow-ups.
- **Automations & communications**: Rules, queries, and Deliver campaigns showcasing effective outreach strategies.
- **Data management & reporting**: Sample dashboards, reports, and structured data for tracking application trends and engagement.
- **User roles & permissions**: A fully functional set of role-based permissions, demonstrating access control and workflow management.
- **Institution-specific examples**: Configurations tailored to different institution types, including **K-12, Community Colleges, Undergraduate, Graduate, and more**, ensuring relevant and applicable use cases for various educational settings.

The **Student Success Showcase** database includes:

- **Case management workflows**: A variety of workflows that move students through case management, conduct review, and other semi-automated processes
- **Advising forms & appointments:** Ready-to-use advising forms, appointment sign-up templates, and automated follow-ups
- **Automations & communications**: Rules, queries, and Deliver campaigns showcasing effective outreach strategies, including sample housing communications, financial aid alerts, and more
- **Reporting**: Sample dashboards and reports that include advising snapshots, GPA distributions, and risk reports
- **Portals:** Fully-featured sample microsites, including an advising calendar, coaches’ portal, and more

The **Advancement Showcase** database includes:

- **Portals:** Pull from our library of pre-configured microsites, including Giving Day portals, donor profiles, and more.
- **Forms & events:** Ready-to-use online giving forms, event registration templates, and automated follow-ups.
- **Data management & reporting**: Sample dashboards, reports, and structured data for tracking giving trends and engagement.
- **Automations & communications**: Rules, queries, and Deliver campaigns showcasing effective donor engagement strategies.

## Copy-paste Showcase objects into your database with Suitcase

One of the best ways to make use of your Showcase environment is by using **Suitcase**, a data import tool, to copy objects from Showcase database to your test or production environment.

With Suitcase, you can:

- Copy **queries, reports, forms, and workflows** to your own test or production databases
- Adapt pre-built configurations to fit your specific needs
- Save time by leveraging fully designed processes, instead of building from scratch

## Accessing Showcase environments

You can provision a Showcase environment as one of the options in your Clean Slate environment slot.
