Step 2: Populate Advancement Core Datasets

Prev Next

Advancement databases are segmented into three primary datasets:

Before becoming operational, these datasets must be populated with data from a legacy system. Upload Dataset will be critical in importing records to these datasets.

As part of a comprehensive data migration strategy, the initial import to these datasets should be segmented into a hierarchy of data priority. Meaning, this initial populating of the datasets should only include core data elements. Core data elements can include:

  • Unique field (Advance ID, Colleague ID, etc.)

  • Name

  • Date of Birth

  • Email

  • Address

  • Phone

This initial upload will establish the records in Slate. By including the unique field, subsequent imports will match directly on these existing records. The complete process of importing core data is described in Importing Current Person Data.
