# Timeline

The **Timeline**tab appears on person records. It keeps a record of communications delivered, forms submitted, gifts received, and much more.

In the sidebar, there are five ways to view the timeline:

- **Timeline**: Events related to the record, grouped by month.
- [Interactions](/v1/docs/interactions): A list returning one communication to or from the record per row.
- [Activities](/v1/docs/activities): A list returning one activity (communications plus system events) per row
- [Audit Log](/v1/docs/audit-log): Audit internal events related to the record, like rule executions, grouped by month.
- [Campaigns](/v1/docs/campaigns-on-the-timeline): List of scheduled mailings to the record.

Each of these sections provides a different slice of the overall history of the record.

## The Timeline

The **Timeline**section provides an overall history of interaction events that have taken place on the record, such as form submissions, message history, and payment history.

## Date range

Adjust the date range for display by changing the values on the upper right.

## Exploring the timeline

The timeline consists of an ordered list of all interactions, grouped by month and year.

Selecting an interaction opens a popup that provides related information and contextual options to modify the interaction.

## Filtering the timeline

Select which types of interactions appear in the timeline. Slate remembers your preferences.

Enter search terms in the **Search Interactions…**field to narrow down the list of results by text in the code, subcode, and subject of an interaction.
