AI content blocks add AI Text and AI HTML formats to content blocks. Instead of writing every variation manually, configure a content block key with a prompt, optional knowledge sources, and value-specific content blocks. When the content block renders, Slate AI generates content from that configuration.
Use AI Content Blocks when the output should be personalized to the record, recipient, or portal context while still following a prompt and structure you control.

You might use AI content blocks to:
Include a personalized visit follow-up paragraph that references the student's intended program, recent event attendance, and next best admissions step.
Display a portal summary that explains the student's next advising step using degree progress, registration status, and support resources.
Generate donor portal copy that thanks a constituent for recent giving and highlights funds or opportunities related to their past support.
Creating an AI content block
🔑 Required Permissions: Deliver Content Blocks
Go to Database → Content Blocks (Beta).
Select New Key.
Configure the following settings:
Key: Enter the content block key that will be referenced where the content block renders.
Name: Enter a readable name for the content block key.
Type: Select the data type Slate should use when matching values, such as String (Discrete Values), Integer (Inclusive Range of Values), Real Number (Inclusive Range of Values), Date (Inclusive Range of Values), or DateTime (Inclusive Range of Values).
Folder: Select a folder when the content block key should be organized with related keys.
Format: Select AI Text or AI HTML.
Select any Knowledge Sources that Slate AI should use when generating the block.
In Default Content Block, enter the default prompt. The prompt should describe the audience, purpose, tone, and expected output.
Select Save.

Adding value-specific prompts
Add value-specific content blocks when Slate AI should use different instructions for different string, number, date, or date/time values.
Open the content block key.
Select New Content Block.
Set Status to Active.
Enter the Value or range that should use the prompt. For string keys, this value should match the export or merge field value that references the content block.
In Content Block, enter the prompt Slate AI should use for that value.
Select Save.
Using an AI content block
Open the mailing, portal, dashboard, or other Slate area that supports content blocks.
Reference the content block with content block syntax:
{{EXPORT-NAME | block: "KEY OF CONTENT BLOCK"}}Replace EXPORT-NAME with the export or merge field whose value should determine which content block renders.
Replace KEY OF CONTENT BLOCK with the key for the AI content block.
For Deliver mailings and form communications, make sure the export used in the content block syntax is available in the recipient list or communication exports.
Preview the message, portal, or page with a test record.
Review the generated output and refine the prompt or knowledge sources as needed.
