In a Deliver message, you can use Message Preview and Check Logic to test logic for specific records, preview sample messages, and confirm that a record meets the logic of the recipient list query. Link Previews ensure the validity of your links.

Check logic

To check the logic within a Deliver message:

1. Go to Deliver.

2. Select a mailing, or create a new one.

3. Select Preview Message.

4. Configure the following settings:

   • Recipient List: If more than one recipient list is associated with a mailing, select the one you want to test using the recipient list dropdown.

   • Record: Enter the name of a record using the Record Lookup.

   • Filters: Displays filters for the selected recipient list

     • ✅ indicates the record meets the filter criteria

     • ❌ indicates the record does not meet the criteria of the filter in the recipient list query

   • Past Runs: Whether the record has been pulled in the live recipient list query for this mailing. If it has, it will not be eligible to receive this mailing again.

5. Select Preview. The mailing appears as it would for the selected record.

Preview message

This is particularly helpful for testing different permutations of Liquid markup.

To view a preview of the message:

1. Select Preview Message

2. Select a recipient list

3. In the Record field, enter a name.

The message appears as it would to that record.

As an example, the mailing may include Liquid markup to conditionally display text based upon a student’s academic interest. If Jane has a value of History for an academic interest, the message may differ from Timothy, who has a value of Biology for an academic interest. Testing this prior to scheduling the mailing is made easier through the use of the Preview Message feature.

Preview links

Preview Links lets you preview the endpoint landing page of all of the links in a Deliver mailing.

• Go to Deliver.

• Select a mailing, create a new one.

• Select the Preview Links icon—it appears in a row with the options to switch views from desktop to mobile devices.

  

The Preview Links pop-up displays:

• A desktop preview of the message

• Smartphone preview of the message

• Image previews of each link destination

• Warning icons for each dead link

Each link in the mailing appears in the pop-up and can be selected to ensure correct navigation.
