These conversations provide an opportunity to learn from the broad knowledge of the Slate community, including Technolutions staff expertise and the experiences of your colleagues at other institutions.

Registering for Community Conversations

To see the list of upcoming Community Conversations:

With Legacy UI:

  1. Hover over your profile icon at the top right corner of any page.

  2. Select Home Slate.

  3. Select Community Conversations from the left navigation.

With Modern UI:

  1. Hover over the Slate logo at the top left of any page.

  2. Select Home Slate.

  3. Select Community Conversations from the left navigation.

Note: Home Slate can only be accessed from production environments.

To register, select a conversation that interests you and a popup appears.

  • In the popup, you can ask a question in advance of the conversation.

  • Asking questions in advance is recommended, but not required to participate.

  • You can register up to two weeks in advance.

Filter Community Conversations

Filter Community Conversations by:

  • Level: Implementing, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced,

  • Type: Basics, Use Case, Database Management, Ask Us Anything

  • Tag: Community College, International, Liquid Markup, Configurable Joins, Outreach, Applications, Admissions, Advancement, Student Success

Complexity levels

Implementing

These conversations are designed for institutions in the first year of their Slate journey. Topics will focus on getting your database up and running as well as best practices to think about when setting up processes.

Beginner

These conversations are best for individuals either new to the Slate community or new to the specific area being covered. The focus will be on understanding the basics of the functionality to build a foundation for more advanced use.

Intermediate

These conversations are best suited for individuals with a firm grasp of Slate basics looking to take their skills to the next level in a specific area. They will focus on utilizing more complex functionality to achieve more complicated use cases.

Advanced

These conversations are for the Slate Wizards looking to pick up new tricks and hone their already sharp skills. Typically topics will be diving into the more technical aspects of Slate and pushing use cases to their limits.

Conversation types

Use Case

These conversations are meant to be practical, focusing on a specific application of Slate functionality.

Basics

These conversations focus on a specific module or function within Slate. The goal is to provide a snapshot of some of the functionality to get you started on your journey and spark conversations with other users.

Ask Us Anything

These conversations are entirely driven by audience questions. While they will usually have a theme or focus, there will not be a pre-prepared presentation and attendees are highly encouraged to submit questions ahead of time.

Database Management

These conversations take a step back from Slate functionality to focus on the bigger picture of being responsible for a database.
