Direct Round URL

A direct round URL links a specific applicant population that should ONLY see a particular application type. Only one application will be available for creation when the applicant reaches the application management page, and all other active applications will be hidden from the applicant.
We recommend setting the application round you're linking to as locked. This will prevent applicants from potentially changing their application to a different application round after the application has been created.
Example - Your database includes two rounds, a 2017 Undergraduate application and a 2017 Graduate application. Instead of giving an undergraduate applicant the option to apply to both application types, you provide a direct URL to the Undergraduate application. When the applicant arrives at the application management page, the only application type displayed is the 2017 Undergraduate application. The same would be true if you would like to hide the undergraduate application from a Graduate applicant. You would provide a direct URL to the Graduate application. When the applicant arrives at the application management page, the only application type displayed is the 2017 Graduate application.
URL | Experience |
---|---|
https://sampleadmission.schoolname.edu/apply/ | An applicant who should see all active application types will use this default application management page URL |
https://sampleadmission.schoolname.edu/apply/?sr=RoundID | An applicant who should not see all application types but is instead applying to a specific application type will use a direct URL |
Configure Direct Round URL
Once a round has been created, use the following format to directly link to a specific application round: https://sampleadmission.schoolname.edu/apply/?sr=RoundID (modify the text in red).
Setting | Description |
---|---|
ID | The ID is the RoundID that will be included at the end of the URL |
Status | When using the direct URL, the round should be set to Inactive. Setting this as inactive will omit the round from the general Application Landing page (schoolname.edu/apply/). |
Important
Direct Round URLs are round specific. As old rounds are inactivated, new rounds will require new links to be generated.
Test the Process
To test this, open an incognito window (to avoid signing in as an administrator) in Google Chrome, paste the URL and apply as a new applicant. Repeat this for each application round where you plan to provide a direct round.
