You can export documents in much the same way you can export data from Slate.
There are two methods by which you can export materials from Slate:
Document export queries: This method is useful for larger, scheduled document downloads.
Admin PDF download from the application record: Good for smaller, ad-hoc document downloads, like when faculty without Slate access need application files, or off-site interviewers need packets when Internet access is limited.
Exporting documents with a query
Document export queries export documents to external document management systems like OnBase, ImageNow, or Docfinity.
You can package the documents you export with queries in one of three ways:
As a zip archive with an index file
As a zip archive with the index keys included in the file name
As a PDF
📖 Build a document export query
Additional document configurations
You can customize the file name scheme and the metadata included in the documents returned by your document export query.
Scheduling documents for export
Schedule export settings define the format of the downloaded files. Index files can be enabled via the Schedule Export settings.
Testing document export queries
To test your document export query:
Select Run Query.
From Output, select
Formatted Export: yourFile.zip..png?sv=2022-11-02&spr=https&st=2025-12-04T00%3A43%3A35Z&se=2025-12-04T00%3A53%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2BX3mEV6%2FPr9R3WNuScDf7xnvHsxT8C8dC3f9TUmPqyE%3D)
Select Export. A ZIP file is downloaded to your computer containing the exported documents.
If additional tweaks are needed, delete the generated query run and continue editing and testing before finalizing the document export query.

⭐ Avoid timeouts by optimizing your queries for performance.
Downloading PDFs from a record
You can also download documents directly as PDFs, either from the person record, or bundled in a query.
Admin PDF downloads are set up within Reader Tab Groups and Reader Tab Materials. Using these options, a specific order for documents included in the package can be defined.
The admin PDF download groups appear in the "Insert Part" selector when selecting the "Download PDF" link from the application record view, or when selecting the "PDF Document Export" output from a query run.
