Overview

AI Dashboards allow administrators to create dynamic record-level dashboard content that Slate AI can interpret using configured exports and prompt instructions. In advancement, these dashboards are useful for surfacing concise summaries of recent contact reports, giving history, engagement patterns, stewardship context, or other record-specific information.

Why this is useful

A dashboard should help users decide what to do next. Dashboards should be focused on decision support, not on showing every possible field. A person dashboard may include giving, event participation, contact history, opportunities, education, employment, relationships, and AI-generated summaries depending on a user’s role.

AI Dashboards extend this model by using selected exports as context and prompting Slate AI to turn that context into a concise, readable output.

How to create an AI Dashboard

  1. Navigate to Database > Dashboards.

  2. Click New Dashboard.

  3. Enter a user-friendly Name.

  4. Set Type to Record.

  5. Select the appropriate Base, such as Person.

  6. Check AI Dashboard.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Add exports that provide the context Slate AI should use.

  9. Click Edit Dashboard.

  10. Add the export references and any framing context to the first input box.

  11. Add a prompt in the second input box to guide the AI-generated output.

  12. Save the dashboard.

  13. Add the AI Dashboard to the appropriate record dashboard, portal, or record view.

Sample prompt

Summarize the most recent contact report interactions in under 200 words. Focus on what happened, what the constituent appears to care about, any commitments or follow-up items, and what the assigned staff member should consider doing next. Do not invent information that is not present in the provided context.

Choose exports carefully. The AI Dashboard can only interpret the context you provide. Good exports might include:

  • Most recent gift

  • Largest gift

  • Open opportunities

  • Recent contact reports

  • Recent event attendance

  • Assigned staff member

  • Preferred fund or giving interest

  • Stewardship obligation

Keep the AI output focused. A dashboard summary should help users act quickly, not replace the full record.
