Research Sources

A research source is the origin of research data stored in Slate. Research sources might reflect either external sources, like Capture, or institution-specific sources of information.

Institution-specific sources might include prospect scores, news articles, or other collections of data that provide insight about a record in your database.

Adding a new research source

To add a new research source:

  1. Go to Database → Research Configurations.

  2. Select Add Research Source.

  3. Configure the following settings:

    • Name: Enter the source name. For example, Engagement Score, Faculty Early Alert, or Staff Research.

    • Status: Active

    • Folder: Select an existing folder. If desired, create a new folder by selecting Other and entering a new folder name.

    • Scope: In this case, Person

  4. Select Save. The summary page for the research source appears.

With the research source configured, any existing data keys can be added to the source, and new data keys can be created and associated with the source.
