Widget tabs let you divide a widget modal into multiple tabs. A widget modal is a popup with form fields supplied by a widget-scoped form. For example, a widget modal appears when you create a new entity row, or edit an existing one. When you add a section break with a Type of Widget Tab to a widget-scoped form, the fields in that section populate a tab on the widget.

Section breaks with the Type of Widget Tab become tabs in a widget modal. In this example, we've added tabs to an entity widget.

With widget tabs, you can:

Use tabs in a scholarship or program widget modal to separate eligibility details, review notes, and decision fields.

Use tabs in an advising widget modal to separate meeting details, notes, and follow-up actions.

Use tabs in an performance goals widget modal to separate overview information, gift goals, and proposal goals, and engagement goals.

Adding tabs to a widget form

  1. Open the form used by the widget. This might be an application page, like the sports page, or a  on a person record.

  2. Select Edit Form.

  3. Add a section break where a new tab should begin.

  4. Configure the following settings:

    • Type: Widget Tab

    • Widget Tab Label: Enter a name for the widget tab.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Drag and drop fields from the palette that should appear in that tab after the section break.

  7. Repeat these steps for each additional tab.

Testing the widget modal

  1. Open a record or page that displays the widget.

  2. Open the widget modal.

  3. Confirm that each tab appears as expected.

  4. If fields appear under the wrong tab, return to the form and move the fields or section breaks.
