LanguageCert Academic Test Integration

LanguageCert Academic is a multilevel test designed to assess the candidate’s ability to understand, use, and communicate effectively in English within an academic setting. It uses a 100-point scale that measures the average of the four individual components: reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
In this article, you’ll add a source format and test type to your Slate database, and LanguageCert will provide scores as a JSON file.
Step 1: Adding the LanguageCert Service Account from the Slate Template Library
Go to Database → Slate Template Library.
Search for
LanguageCert Service Account.Next to LanguageCert Service Account, select Add.
Select Add. Do not make changes to this user account.
Step 2: Adding the LanguageCert test type
Go to Database → Suitcase.
Select Import.
Paste the following Suitcase ID:
288627f8-f4aa-4ddc-9263-28a2bf771c2a:slate-examplesSelect Retrieve.
📝 Do not make any changes to the test type.
Step 3: Adding the source format
To add the LanguageCert JSON source format:
Go to Database → Source Format Library.
Next to LanguageCert, select Add. A pop-up appears.
Select Add. A pop-up appears describing the source format.
Select Add. A browser dialog appears.
Select OK.
You are redirected to the overview page for the source format.
Step 4: Updating the LanguageCert (JSON) Test Type
In the LanguageCert JSON source format, select Edit.
Select the Format Definition tab.
Configure the remap settings for the format definition as needed. Many items have been pre-mapped.
Select the General tab.
Set Remap Active to Active. The import runs for all files uploaded on or after the Remap As Of Date.
Step 5: Providing LanguageCert the Slate Endpoint URL
In the LanguageCert JSON source format, select Web Services.
Select the Certificate Based Authentication tab.
Copy the URL.
Log into the LANGUAGECERT Score Verification System account at verification.languagecert.org.
Select the API Integrations tab.
Select Enable results delivery via Slate.
In the Slate Endpoint URL field, paste the Web Services POST URL.
Select Update. After a few seconds, a confirmation message appears.
Your Slate database can receive LanguageCert Academic test results from candidates who have opted in.
