Slate Voicemail records messages for unanswered inbound Slate Voice calls. With custom voicemail greetings, users can replace the default greeting with a recorded message that better fits the office, team, or individual receiving the call.
After a custom greeting is saved, callers hear that greeting before leaving a voicemail. The voicemail then follows the usual Slate Voice routing and appears for the appropriate user or role to review.

Before you begin
The phone number must already use Slate Voice and Slate Voicemail. You also need access to Deliver Configuration to edit the Slate Voice number or mailbox you want to update.
Record a custom voicemail greeting
Go to Database → Deliver Configuration.
Select the SMS/Voice account or phone number that receives inbound calls.
Confirm that Slate Voicemail is enabled for unanswered inbound calls.
In the voicemail greeting area, record or update the custom greeting.
Save the configuration.
Test the greeting by calling the number and letting the call route to voicemail.
Writing the greeting
Keep the greeting short and specific. Identify the office or person the caller reached, ask the caller to leave the information needed for follow-up, and set a reasonable expectation for when the caller can expect a response.
For example:
Record a greeting for your main recruitment number during application review season. Callers hear a message that asks for the applicant's name, date of birth, and application term before leaving a voicemail.
Create a custom greeting that asks students to include their student ID and the topic they need help with, so staff can route the voicemail to the right advisor.
Record a greeting for your donor relations number that thanks callers for reaching out and asks them to leave their name, preferred contact method, and gift or event question.
