If an incoming Inbox message contains sensitive information that should not remain in Slate, delete the message from the associated record timeline. Deleting the incoming message this way removes it from the timeline, Inbox, and the message table.
📝 Note
This process applies to incoming Inbox messages. It does not delete outgoing or sent Inbox replies. Review institutional retention and privacy requirements before deleting records that may need to be retained.

Assign the message to a record
The message must be associated with a person record before it can be deleted from the timeline.
Open the Inbox message.
Check whether the message is already assigned to the correct person record.
If the message is not assigned, assign it to the correct person record.
If the message should not be assigned to a real person record, assign it to a designated test or administrative holding record that your team uses for this purpose.
Delete the incoming message
Open the assigned person record.
Go to the record timeline.
Find the incoming Inbox message.
Open the message.
Select Delete.
Confirm that the message no longer appears in the timeline or Inbox.
Prevent accidental disclosure in replies
Because this process does not delete outgoing messages, do not include sensitive content from the original message in any reply. If a reply is needed, remove quoted message history or sensitive excerpts before sending.
