With your keyboard, copy any object that can be imported with Suitcase and paste it elsewhere, in any database.
↔️ Paste between databases: You can copy an object in one database (your production environment, say) and paste it in another (your test environment).🌱 Paste in new contexts: You can copy objects and paste them into acceptable parent objects. For example, pasting a query in a Deliver mailing will import it as a new recipient list.

Go to anything in Slate that can be imported with Suitcase, like:

Press ctrl + c or cmd + c. The object is copied to your clipboard.
For queries, portals, and source formats, you can also use the object's Copy action: Copy on a query, Edit → Copy Portal on a portal, or Edit → Copy on a source format. Set Destination to Copy to Clipboard, then select Save.
Pasting
Go to the destination in Slate, then press ctrl + v or cmd + v. An Import Suitcase popup appears.
If nothing happens while an embedded dashboard has focus, click outside the dashboard on the surrounding Slate page and try pasting again.
Example: Import Suitcase for a query. New Name and Modify appear on the query's row; the rows below it are included query parts.
Review object-specific settings
In Import Suitcase, review New Name on the object's row and select Modify to inspect its settings. The fields depend on the object being pasted. For example:

The original Copy dialog and the pasted Modify dialog are different screens. For a query, copying directly to a new query includes Folder and Subfolder; these fields are not shown in the pasted query's Modify dialog. The pasted object's New Name is in the parent Import Suitcase table, not in Modify.
Note: Standard source formats
Changing a standard source format's Name or Format can prevent the copy from inheriting settings from the Source Format Library. Preserve these values when continued inheritance is intended; do not rely on an on-screen warning to identify this risk.
These examples describe copying whole objects through Suitcase. Copying selected query parts inside the query builder is a different workflow; the whole-query User and Sharing settings shown here do not describe query-part paste settings.
Configure the import as needed, then select Import. You are directed to the object’s configuration page.
