Use Homepage Builder to organize reports, widgets, and portals on the Slate homepage. Configure each tab in Database → Tabs, then set its name and order.

Prepare a report or widget
Reports can display data and static content on your homepage. Create a report in Queries / Reports → Reports. See Creating, Editing, and Rendering Reports for instructions.
Save the report in the System folder and Homepage subfolder. This makes the report available in the Report list when you configure a homepage tab. Saving a report in this folder does not add a homepage tab. Create the tab with the instructions below.
The Report list also includes widgets named Homepage or with names that start with Homepage - .
Create a homepage tab
Go to Database → Tabs.
Select Insert.
Configure the following settings:
Status: Active
Name: Enter the name to display on the homepage. This name is separate from the report name.
Scope: Homepage
Type: Select Report or Portal.
Report or Portal: Select the report, widget, or portal to display on the homepage tab.
Order: Enter a number to represent the order of the tab in the list of homepage tabs.
Select Save.
📝 For Portal tabs, use an Express Portal with Portal Security set to User.

Change tab names and order
Existing homepage tabs are available in Database → Tabs. You do not need to create them again. Slate assigned order values to preserve their previous sequence.
Edit a tab in Database → Tabs to change its Name or Order. Renaming a report does not change the name of its homepage tab.
Tabs appear by Order, then by Name when their Order values are the same. You no longer need names such as 01 - Overview or ZZZ - Last Tab to control the sequence. These settings apply to both horizontal and vertical layouts.
Previously, Slate sorted reports and widgets by their full names. For example, the widget Homepage - Overview appeared before the report Information, although its tab displayed only Overview. The assigned order values preserve this sequence.

Use reports to show information that your team needs on the homepage.

Use static content blocks in a report to include frequently used links.
Report loading
The homepage report renders each time a user opens the Slate homepage. If the homepage loads slowly, simplify the report on the first tab.
Report permissions
Report permissions control who can see a homepage report. These permissions apply to the entire report. To assign permissions, open the report and select Edit Permissions.
Users see report tabs only for reports in their realm or realms. Use realm permissions to control which users can see reports on the homepage.

To enable vertical tabs, go to Database → Configuration Keys → Early Access Features and select Homepage Vertical Tabs.
